Hello—

I’m a creative producer,
film maker, and brand director, best known for
co-founding industrial design studio Instrmnt (2014—22).

Over the course of a decade in the creative industries, I have been fortunate to work throughout the UK and internationally to produce a diverse body of thoughtful, award-winning work.

At Instrmnt we built physical products, however it was really the quality of the narrative around each release that brought us success.

My day could vary from delivering polished out-of-home campaign assets to short form social media clips; designing tactile, sustainable packaging solutions to project managing our collaborations with stores or brands.

Prior to Instrmnt, I worked at renowned Glasgow agency O Street as a designer and studio manager (and social media manager.. and videographer). I couldn’t think of a better place to learn about the creative mix, and how it differs between briefs.

Prior to that, I ran an online menswear store whilst studying Graphic Design and Advertising at university (receiving a BA Honours degree).

My ability and experience as a producer extends from conceptual development (packaging, print, digital, campaign), planning, styling, location scouting, and talent selection, through to licensing (tv, audio, IP), press pitching and distribution.

In addition, I have led and project managed multiple end-to-end physical and digital design briefs in collaboration with respected brands such as Folk Clothing, Christopher Raeburn, and Innis & Gunn.

For me, delivering a project smoothly is equally as satisfying as developing a strong aesthetic concept.

Filmmaking.

Over the course of the last eight years, I have built a considered portfolio of film work: from brand activation pieces to short-form documentaries, working as a director, producer and project manager.

The majority of my work in the field has been undertaken with film studio Pretend Lovers (Bowmore Whisky, New Practice, Green & Blacks): firstly in commissioning them to make content for Instrmnt, before crossing the aisle to work as a producer, first AD, and first AC for a number of further productions.

I have also worked closely with niche studio Raspberry & Jam (Cereal Magazine, Four Seasons, Perfumer H), commissioning and project managing multiple brand films. Some included complex international shoots with large teams; one involved commissioning an original score whilst working in collaboration with world-renowned Scottish Ballet.

In addition to working with these studios, I regularly produced engaging social media video content for Instrmnt’s large social media following (75k+ across platforms).

Brand Direction.

Instrmnt was an industrial design agency run like a brand. We sold goods direct to customers in 90 countries alongside a retail network of boutique stores such as SSENSE, Liberty, End Clothing and Oi Polloi. Our products and campaigns featured in pretty much every prominent design publication and national newspaper at some point.

In tangible terms, this meant building a considered, cohesive design framework that could be applied across every element of the brand mix, taking a particularly meticulous approach to type, layout, and copy writing.

As part of that, packaging quickly grew to define our overall strategy. It was a constantly evolving brief (from ideation through to design and production) made more challenging by an unwavering commitment to sustainable practice and materials.

I also led a team in building a bespoke Shopify-based web store, providing customers with a quietly powerful UI in which they could build their own watch from a selection of styles, materials, and colour choices.
